What POASMS does
POASMS lets businesses send SMS and WhatsApp messages to their customers and see delivery results. Businesses (our customers) decide who they message and what they send; POASMS carries the messages on their behalf.
Information we process
- Account data — name, business name, email, phone number and billing records of the businesses that sign up.
- Message data — recipient phone numbers, message content, delivery status, timestamps and replies received on WhatsApp, processed only to deliver the message and report on it.
- Technical data — IP addresses, API usage and logs needed to run and secure the service.
How we use it
To deliver messages through mobile networks and the WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta), to bill our customers, to show delivery reports, to prevent abuse, and to meet legal obligations under Tanzanian law (EPOCA, TCRA regulations and the Personal Data Protection Act 2022). We do not sell personal data and we do not use message content for advertising.
Sharing
Message data is shared with the carriers and messaging providers needed to deliver it (mobile network operators, SMS aggregators and Meta for WhatsApp) and with payment providers to process payments. Otherwise data is disclosed only when the law requires it.
Retention
Delivery records are kept for at least six months as required by EPOCA, and message content for up to twelve months, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Account and billing records are kept for as long as the account exists and as required by tax law.
Your choices
Recipients can stop promotional messages at any time by replying STOP. Customers can view, export and delete their contacts and messages inside POASMS, or ask us to delete their account. Requests about your personal data can be sent to privacy@poasms.com.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS, credentials are stored encrypted, and access is limited to staff who need it to operate the service.
